Pharmacy Education in Nepal

1. DIPLOMA IN PHARMACY
This course can be studied after 10th grade/SEE. It is a three year of course conducted under CTEVT.
Eligibility: At least grade C or above GPA 2 with grade C in Math, English, and Science.
Entrance Form and Examination: Around Asar to Shrawan
Question Pattern: Science, English, and Math
Selection Criteria: Based on college rule and ranking. For Scholarship and Quota selection visit college or check in www.sohs.edu.np
Cost: In government college school of health science (around 50k for supporting quota and 130 k for full payment quota) and In private college 3-4 lakh based on college.

SCOPE
Mostly in community pharmacy or hospital pharmacy; rarely in industry

2. BACHELOR IN PHARMACY (B.PHARM)
It’s a four-year course. You can either join after 12 science or D.Pharm. Students will be equipped with the knowledge of medicine manufacturing, utilization, and research on medicine.
Eligibility: Completed +12 in bio group or completed D.Pharm
Entrance:  In case of the university, entrance will be taken for both 12 completed students and Diploma in Pharmacy student, just after the result of 12 and in case D.Pharm students MOE will take the exam after diploma result separately
Question pattern: It is based on university rule but mainly they asked from Science, English, Health and in case of MOE for D.Pharma Students, they ask a question from Health or Pharmacy related
Cost: It takes 6 to 8 lakh depends on the college.

UNIVERSITY AND SCHOLARSHIP
      Available in IOM/TU, KU, PU, Purbanchal and different foreign embassy like Pakistan, India etc
      MOE provide full scholarship and University provides partial based on ranking.
      Colleges also provide scholarship based on college internal rules and management.

FUTURE STUDY
You can further study on Industry based course, Hospital-based courses. The course available in Nepal are Master in Pharmaceutical Industry, Master in Pharmacognosy, Doctor in Pharmacy (previously in KU but need to check at present), Master in Hospital & Clinical pharmacy, Master in pharmaceutical care and abroad can be other option.

SCOPE
Community and Hospital pharmacy, Pharmaceutical Industry, Pharmaceutical Marketing and rarely in research (in case of Nepal but possibility in abroad) and NGOs.
