We all know that many youths are facing struggle and pressure nowadays. They are mainly facing challenges in the area of the educational institution where they spend most of their time. The worldly things have created confusion to today’s Christian youth. It seems like an embarrassing moment to live a spiritual life for the Christian youth.
According to my experience and survey, I found out some of the major Christian youth problems:
- Busyness
Most of the youth are focusing on their personal work and education. They are very much involved in their secular work and are failing to grow spiritually. They don’t give much time in church activities and spiritual aspects.
- Living in an anti-Christian culture
In Nepal, about 80 % of people are Hindu. Youths are facing a culture of Hinduism in their everyday life. They are being challenged to live in Christian ethics.
- Temptation to sexual impurity
During youth and adolescent stage, there is a high chance of falling into sexual immorality. The peer pressure and media influence youth to jump in sexual fall.
- Divorce and Family issue
Most of the people are suffering from different kind of family problems these days. Due to this problem, youths are not getting moral support. They are facing problems to live life.
- Negative media influences
Media has a significant influence on people’s view towards the world. The world always seems to be against Christianity as it has encouraged to live beyond Christian morality.
- Lack of model
We find that adolescent boys engage in a more delinquent behaviour. There is a lack of the good mentor, the leader who would lead them to grow spiritually and academically.
- Materialism
Materialism refers to those people who believe in only physical things. Worldly people force Christian youth into materialism rather than spiritual things.
At last, if we create a good environment for the spiritual growth of Christian youth, then we can await to see youth as a pillar of Church and Community. We have to defense world’s temptation and develop a good relation with God. Let’s encourage and guide each other and grow together in Christ.
